For best results use a teflon washer against the arm, then the clamp nut, then a nylock nut. Especially use a nylock jam nut on the driver side because even with a pinch nut, with the arm moving up and down the driver side nuts tend to loosen up. A thru rod is required on a Volkswagen Ball Joint or King and Link Pin front axle beam when you remove the front torsion bars. Thru rods hold your arms inside of the beam and allow the front trailing arms to move independently from the driver side to the passenger side. Once you remove your torsion plates, a coil over shock, air shock, or air bag is required to support the weight of the vehicle.

A 8 inch wider beam is 42 inches wide not including the trailing arms.
