    The emblem does NOT come with the base mounting plate. When you install this hood emblem on your beetle, you put the two vertical tabs through the mounting plate then through the two vertical slots in the hood. Inside the hood you fold over the two tabs to secure the hood emblem to the hood. The circular hole in the center of the mounting plate is not used.
