These heavy duty Swaged tie rods allow you to replace your factory VW tie rods and tie rod ends on your steering box with heim joints. You use a 5/8 heim joint with 1/2 inch misalignment shims that reduce the 5/8 heim to a 1/2 inch bolt. You must drill out your pitman arm and spindle to accept a 1/2 inch bolt. Using these tie rods eliminates the use of a steering damper. For off-road use only. Not intended for street use. Special order lengths are available for narrowed ball joint or king and link pin axle beams.

Our USA made swaged tie rods are super strong. Swaging is a forging process in which the ends of the tie rods are compressed using dies which the tie rods are forced in to. Compressing the ends of the tie rods increases the density of the material.

We offer these swaged tie rods in both aluminum and steel. The advantage of using aluminum on your front end, is that if you hit something with your vehicle the aluminum tie rod will bend before your arms, spindles, or other expensive front end components. The aluminum tie rod would be your "weak point" and tie rods are much cheaper than replacing arms, spindles, or other front end components.

For the hardcore racer or heavy duty sand rail, baja bug, or rock crawler we offer the swaged steel tie rods that are less forgiving in an accident.
