36 Horse Power Dog House Fan Shroud

The term "36 horse power" refers to the round shape of the fan shroud. Dog House refers to the separate oil cooler compartment on the back side of the fan shroud. This idea was first introduced by Volkswagen in 1971. This shroud allows you to use a 1.50 inch fan instead of the normal 1.25 inch fan allowing for a lot more air flow. Also because the oil cooler is located outside of the shroud, the hot air from the oil cooler is not pushed back over the cylinders and heads.

This shroud will work on any beetle engine from 1300cc up to 2332cc that is using a Dog House oil cooler system. The extra curve of the 36 horse power style shrouds allows you to access dual carburetors much easier to tighten intake manifolds or to adjust the carburetors.

If you are using this shroud on a beetle with an enclosed engine compartment you will need to purchase the dog house exhaust tin and dog house front tin which routes the hot air from your oil cooler out of the engine compartment.
