The mounting flange can be rotated to several positions allowing you to move the starter's solenoid out of the way of any chassis braces that might be in the way.
This starter is designed for a Mendeola transmission that has a bell housing with the starter mount centered on the top of the transmission. Because the starter is centered on the top of the transmission and a Honda or Acura engine has a water pipe that points directly at the starter you'll need to use this special off set starter. If you have a newer Mendeola 2011 and later with the starter mounting hole offset to the side like a beetle or bus transmission then you do not use this starter.
