The key benefit of a micro stub assembly is the stub axle is shorter providing greater strength and also the CV joint will be further away from the transmission, allowing you to use a longer axle with less CV angel to get more wheel travel.
To measure the appropriate axle for your vehicle, install the arms complete with the brakes on the vehicle. Once installed, jack the trailing arm up so that the CV joint on the arm would be straight across from the CV joint on the transmission so the axle would be at zero degrees. This is important because you need your shortest length to purchase an axle otherwise when the arm travels upward it would force the axle into the transmission. After you have jacked the arm up to zero degrees, measure from the center portion of the stub axle to the center point on your drive flange on the side of the transmission. Do not measure from where the CV joint bolts on. You measure from center of cup to center of cup to get the "plunge" distance. Once you have that length, you typically subtract 3/8" to 1/4" for your axle length. Be sure to measure both sides of the vehicle, because most transmissions are not centered in the vehicle, and you may need to purchase two different lengths of axle.
